Halfway - A poem - By Suhani - Guest writer for May 🌼

Image
Everyday, I wondered When I would climb, when My head and my Body would reach the Clouds, as I would have crossed Halfway. I dreamt what it would be like to be Free and Light, but it seems as though such a world is superficial Where constant reminders of broken bonds and cackles from herds I was never in Ceased to exist. Such reality lies only in the mind. happiness, Peace, glee are only notions. Everyday , I wonder, when I would reach the top, and my eyes would see A sky full of stars. And only while peeking did I realize, I’m stuck Halfway and can only wistfully wish on the little rays of light that fall on me out of sheer luck, for my perfect world to be True.

3 days in May - A poem

Image
Tastes like summer, drops of condensation on your mirror Pages will turn, under the sun you’ll burn Chicken and rice for dinner, underdogs will become winners Smells like it’ll rain soon, your life is about to change too There’s beauty in going alone, hair flying out the window There’s puddles on cricket grass and an ice cold drink in my green glass Feels like shimmering stars and dances in small lit up bars Open the box, surprises will spill out and lead you to eighteen diamond door knobs Cheer, parade around a bus and fill the cup with all your trust Sounds like the clouds are embracing each other, skies will light up Replays of texts every second I get, the biggest surprise that I’ve ever met This shuttle has to go over the net and remember my footprints on soil that’s fresh and wet Looks like the huge red circle I didn’t know I was walking in, meets the start today and we celebrate this glorious win Light bulbs are replaced, people are placed Books will be bought, lessons will be t...

Bliss - A poem

Image
Tonight is littered with several camera flashes in the balcony under a glowing moon Your favourite chips are on the table, the girls are huddled in the bathroom I’ll sip coffee in the snow globe mug, I’ll get you ice for your coke Laughs will bubble, girls will giggle Tired eyes, but somehow we’ll stay afloat Sway in sync with this beat, go around the circle, what do you want to eat? Swap heels with me, dance your way through this entire playlist Dinner at midnight under the warmth of fireflies in the park, bumbling under summer mist Animal patterned shirt, frilly floral skirt Face glistens with sweat, but the night isn’t over yet Make the music louder, remember the choreography Whip out the white board and Pictionary cards, just be careful while playing darts Down ten chicken wings and spend the entire night dancing Hugs at the door, cards splayed out on top of the rug on the floor Shiny hair, summer skin Tell us where you’ve been Fill my mug with cola, she brought cookies and h...

Blossoms of a memory whose roots no longer grow in me - A poem

Image
What did happen is long gone But I needed some inspiration so our story is what I’ve landed on I was chat searching for that link my boy sent me but stumbled upon our old home Hovered over an old text and soon began to roam Fresh into the gleam of teenage years I warned you every-time I was going to swear and apologised after Little chits decorated with couplets we’d sprinkle around your house Every clue that led me to the end was a vow It was out of a movie, baking bread, movie night, crying over Fred I was Kelly from Just add magic Started like a movie, so the ending had to be tragic I know you’d roll your eyes reading this But I kept giving, kept nurturing your secret gardens But they never bore fruits for me I stood for years under that tree, shaking it hoping I could shower in your flowers But he came around, got everything for free We loved the same things We’d pick a theme and decorate your bulletin Your Instagram password is safe with me My discord addiction is now yours to kee...

Cross lines, pass time, make up your mind, fill your space, picture my face - A poem

Image
All this free time isn’t good for me  I will pour all my thoughts and doubts into a cauldron being heated by flames of insecurity  I’ll make it all up in my head and cross the line The white will mix with black and become grey  and I’ll forget how to distinguish between  What my head made and what he actually did say  I’ll study the minutest of details and still draw conclusions based on my first impression  Assume and make an ass out of both you and me I could write a book on the never ending spiral in my head that I have spent hours trying to manipulate and bend  It’ll translate into a monstrous fire licking my chest  Daring to be vulnerable in front of you  It’ll make me sick to my stomach and I’ll retch  You’ll be my muse that I will exaggerate and sketch Every crease, every stretch  Until then I will fill these hours with poetry, physics and chemistry  Music that decorates my time  Art that decorates my space...

Walls - A poem

Image
My heart is smaller than it seems It’s got all these layers you see I built the first wall when you called and ditched me You decide one day you’re done and leave And years later I now walk around in fear Because what if someone else loses interest the same way you did This first wall was built when I was just a kid These walls are permeable So they don’t do their job Because I was hurt again  Because you danced with me  And told me your secrets Decided you weren’t interested anymore So I put my hands in my pockets And thought maybe this is just how it’s supposed to be Walls are built  Walls disintegrate And they did when I met her Hilarious, unapologetic, tender We had fun and I was waiting for the moment She would decide she’d had her fill and leave But she stayed And it was the most content I’ve ever been Our memories weave into a braid and rest over my right shoulder Just when they think the coast is clear They are met with another boulder Because the first wal...

Nestled Hearts - A poem 📸

Image
Nestled Hearts This place has traces of you I pay rent to live here But it lives in my head rent - free On repeat, endlessly You dont live here But every time you visit, This place feels a little bit more like home Because I can smell your deoderant in my room And cant help the heat that crawls up my neck, knowing you used my shampoo Your watch is charging on my bed side table The ingredients for your post work out smoothie lie in my fridge on the weekends Thankyou for helping me fix the TV cable I never ever want this to end I dreamt of this a few months back Now it's right in front of me I must've done something right Because now you have your own personal key You're friends with the neighbours You know every dog's name Dont you realise that the other side of my bed Is yours and only yours to claim? And at the end of a long day A long week A long year All I wanna say, is Come home, Let's make it our own
