Nuances 🌸 - A poem
In everyone’s posts, tags and birthday bashes
Top of the charts, winner of hearts, million dollar smile
Guitar fingers, eyes that never sleep, the polaroids that are mine to keep
Under rainbows, in rain showers and thick chunky sweaters
In sneakers, shades and jackets of leather
On freezing evenings, palms warmed by hot cups of tea
Breath can be seen, trees have no leaves
It should be this easy, this fun just being me
Limited edition drops, family photos and the cousin group chat
Books piled up, tales of old posters, roller coasters and sister embroidered welcome mats
Good lighting, blue nails, video logs and pretty handwriting
A strong shot of caught off guard, the best coffee, books that make you cry and petty sisterly fighting
In early study sessions, quiet mornings and tunes of quick math lessons
In walks on crunchy fallen leaves, talks on brown benches of teak and in heartfelt confessions
Dreams of dark blue, hey there, shirts that smell familiar fresh
Black adidas socks, ripped jeans, short white floral frocks and really funny orange crocs
Cry into your shirt, patient, threading fingers through jet black hair
Whispers, sighs, cries and time that flies
Reminders, reassurance and focusing on what’s important
Cupping a delicate chin, so deep in
Time chimes, everything rhymes
Moisturised, watching the sunrise, warmth of glistening skin, warmth growing within
A priority, the first choice, a calming morning alarm, the best goodnight
The only constant thought, etched in letters,
Bubbling in the kettle, melting under the brightest light
Of happenstance early mornings, whispers of sweet nothings, dumplings and tea under the dewy read awning
No judgement, I’m listening, sad and puddled up or shiny and glittering
Blushing, shutting up, giggles because it’s a soothing voice
Out with the boys, shared lunches wrapped in tin foil and rainy smelling soil
Reassuring silent smiles, across from the room, faith knows its roots are watered by you
Flickering hope, finally a stable flame
A frozen moment, cut into a hearts, a million repetitions of your name
