June - A poem

When the sun shines in the month of June
Best believe all the icy layers from before will melt away with all your troubles
And your heart will beat in contentment, basking, vulnerable and true

When your hair flies everywhere and rain drops soak your clothes
Your brain will be post - spring cleaning, making room for newer, more comfortable Burberry coats
There will be no space for dust to collect any longer, and June air will ensure that you’ll come back stronger

When clouds in the sky take the shape of the one you miss most
Just know that blessings trickle through the blue spots of the sky you can see through the white cotton candy
Have faith in June, its wind that pushes you will come in handy

When birds from the north come settle on your island
Just know it’s because it’s always warmer wherever you are
Wafts of cocoa butter and enveloped in sweet smelling humidity
June will clear out the haze, steer you clear of all the stupidity

When the sky splits and drips from cracks of blinding white bolts
The gentle giant is there to tell you that everything will fall into place
It’ll change colours from white to violet every day
It’s June, and everything will be okay

When old friends reconnect and a knot is tied over another old knot
Somehow the rope gets longer and now you have someone for coffee runs
When endless questions make you question everything and you walk back and forth under a scorching sun
June will tell you it’s time to start the run

When Tuesdays mark new beginnings and when Wednesdays are long and the best mundane
You just smile at your surroundings because you can’t complain
Spicy corn and chillies will make everything in the bus fall down
You’ll laugh more and easily, because June is around

When you pour it into the mould and throw it in the oven
Maybe you didn’t realise that the mould itself would melt and your cake would never bake
It’s a lesson in adapting, soaking it all in
June will tell you to just do and trust what’s within

When a new confidence whimpers inside you to give it another shot
You hope with all your heart it’ll grow into a roar
But if not, you know it’s redirection, it’s a clear emboldened sign
June will remind you to keep going, right now is not the time

And as gentle as June is, it takes a lot out of you
So this time be wary to spend and save wisely because you do have a clue
Have some left for the autumn months but give June your all still
Don’t take it slow, wait for it to knock on your door
Jump at the chance, and take your fill
